Brooke County

Brooke County Federation of Democratic Women will sponsor a yearly scholarship, The Brooke County Women Scholarship Program. The scholarship is open to all Brooke High School Senior girls who have maintained a 2.5 GPA, have provided service to school, church, community or other and are planning to enroll for the upcoming Fall Semester in a full time course at an accredited two or four year college, university or vocational school in West Virginia. To enter the competition, please see the guidance counselor for an application and submit a typed essay of not more than 500 words titled: "Women's Role in Today's Society". Entries must be postmarked no later than April 8, 2011 to be accepted. Entries postmarked later than April 8, 2011 will not be accepted. Send the completed application and essay to: Meredith Merriner, 303 Marquette Avenue, Follansbee, West Virginia 26037.  All applications and essays will be reviewed by Brooke County federation of Democratic Women's Scholarship Committee and the winner of the scholarship will receive a check for four-hundred dollars at the BCFDW Awards Ceremony held in May.Thanks, Meredith Merriner, Public Relations, BCFDW smerriner303@comcast.net  304-527-0477
