West Virginia Federation of Democratic Women
Welcome!

WVFDW President Belinda Biafore -
2008 Democrat of the Year

The West Virginia Federation of Democratic Women held an exciting and spirited Annual Meeting at the Charleston Marriott, September 19-21, 2008.  US Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota addressed the more than 300 women in attendance on Friday, September 19.  The Senator encouraged the women to "not give up the fight.  West Virginia is narrowing the gap in the polls and that is directly linked to the work the Democratic Women are doing in the State."  US Senator Jay Rockefeller, Congressman Nick Rahall and Governor Joe Manchin also addressed the Federation.  The weekend ended at the JJ Dinner with Governor Tim Caine of Virginia speaking to Democrats from all over the State.  As National Co-Chair of the Obama/Biden Campaign, Governor Caine asked "don't let the rhetoric from the Republicans fool the people of West Virginia."  WVFDW President Belinda Biafore was honored as the 2008 WV Democrat of the Year and Shirley Roby of Pleasants County was honored as the 2008 Eleanor Roosevelt Award Recipient.
